Announcing the Community Imperative Conference - an historic event scheduled for January 25-26, 2002 in Oakland, California.

A conference for people with disabilities, family members, policy-makers, educators, direct support professionals, advocates and other interested groups.

Anticipated attendance is between 800 and 1,000 people in the developmental disabilities field, including a large number of regionally and nationally prominent speakers who have worked successfully to create powerful coalitions, close institutions, and develop quality, inclusive community services.

The goal of this conference is to build momentum toward community living by strengthening participating advocacy organizations and creating a broad-based, cross-disability action coalition throughout the state.
